ATHLETES:

Finally, SWC Week is a special week. SWC Week is about the team--what you can do to help your team, what sacrifices need to be made for the team. Ultimately, it's about how many points we can get out of every single athlete we've got on the team. After SWCs, it's all about YOU, the individual athlete. But SWC's is about AVON LAKE. It's the collective responsibility we have for each other and how we can help each other perform on our biggest stage as an Avon Lake team.

While Track & Field can be an individual sport, this week is different. Cheering on your teammates, staying for the entire meet, and supporting teammates in events you don't participate in are what it's all about. This is the week where we celebrate our team and we show appreciation for our teammates.

  • If you do not compete in a preliminary race, the 4x800 or a first-round field event, you should arrive no later than 11 A.M. (unless you are taking the ACT test)
  • All athletes and volunteers should check in with me and their event coach when they arrive.
  • WARM UP SATURDAY: It is imperative that you all warm up appropriately. Time this before you check in for your event. You should be hot and sweaty before your race. If you are interested in preventing an injury related to the weather, you MUST warm up to this extent. Leave your sweats on over your competition uniform until right before your race begins.
  • Relay participants must warm up together unless one or more of the members are participating in a field event or earlier race. In this case, other relay members should communicate where competing athletes should meet them, so they are not late for the relay.
  • All clothing under your race jersey should be solid colors (we're encouraging athletes to wear black but as long as it's the same color you should be fine). Each article can have one logo.
  • Locker Rooms - our locker room is ONLY for our athletes (both competing and volunteers). Do NOT invite athletes of competing schools into the locker room. Use this space to get warm when you have long breaks in between events. Please secure your valuables! It will be impossible for us to monitor this space during the meet, so be responsible for your own possessions.
