Avon Lake 2018 Track Camp

Coach Gardner is organizing a Track & Field Camp this summer. The camp will be held from June 11th - 15th, from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at ALHS Track. The camp will be open for incoming 4th - 7th graders.

The coaching staff is looking for high school volunteers to help run the meet. Volunteers would need to arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the start of the camp to help set up each session.

AVON LAKE Regional Qualifiers

Congratulations to Justin Wirtz and Danny Lambert for qualifying for Regionals! Danny qualified in the 200M Dash and Justin qualified in the shot put.

Prelims for the 200M Dash will be held on Wednesday, and Finals for the shot put will be on Friday. Best of luck to you guys--it will be a good week of competition!

Avon Lake Invitational Volunteer Information

The 21st Annual Avon Lake Invitational is scheduled for Saturday, March 31st, beginning at 9:00 A.M. We will need everyone's help to make this event a success. The athletes competing will be the top 2 to 4 athletes in each event; however, we will need all others to be available at some point during the meet in order to assist us in running the first invitational of the season.

If an athlete is not competing or does not have an excused absence, we expect him to make an effort to attend and help out.

For parents, we will need at least 2-3 adults at each field event throughout the day to help manage the athletes and assist the officials in making the events run smoothly. We will also need all available parents to help run and provide food and supplies for our hospitality room (by far the best hospitality room in Northeast Ohio). Saturday Hill Work Session

We will be meeting this Saturday, February 17th, at the ALHS Track (by the caboose) for pre-season Track & Field conditioning! We will be taking a bus to the Rocky River Metro-Parks (Emerald Necklace Marina) to do our hill work sessions. Here are the details:
  • Meet at ALHS at 10 a.m.
  • We should arrive at Rocky River by 10:30 a.m.
  • We will be STARTING our hill work training (so you should be there if you are in town...don't worry if you haven't been running, we're just beginning our training for the upcoming season)
  • Practice should last between 45 minutes to an hour
  • We'll return to ALHS no later than noon
  • I'll send a REMIND text with an ETA of our return
Bring a hat, gloves, water, dress in layers! We will be meeting every Saturday for the next 6 weeks or so. I'll update the blog with our pre-season Saturday sessions soon!
